Throughout history, the Church has observed what are called "Feast Days"—special days set aside to celebrate, remember, and reflect on important events in the life of Christ and his Church. One of the important things we are invited to reflect on as Christians is the lives of God’s saints—those who have lived lives of holiness and set examples for us. These saints come in all shapes and sizes and reflect so many different ways of living a life of holiness. Each Saint has one thing in common, though, a deep love of Jesus and their neighbors.
Tomorrow the Church around the world remembers the life of Saint Francis of Assisi. He was a saint who lived among and loved the poor, while also expecting his community to always strive to honor and glorify God with their best. Maybe this weekend you can take time to reflect upon the saints of your own life? Who are those people who have modeled Christlikeness for you?
Oh, and a fun fact: there is only one person who has more biographies written about them than Saint Francis… Jesus!

This Sunday’s Scripture Readings:
Holy and loving God, we come before you, seeking to walk in integrity, even in the midst of trials. We ask that you examine our hearts and lead us in paths of righteousness. In Your Son, Jesus Christ, you have spoken with power, revealing your love and majesty. Help us to recognize your glory in this world. And like children coming to Jesus, may we come to you with humility, faith, and trust, knowing that your arms are always open wide. Bless us, guide us, and hold us close as we seek to live as your faithful people. Amen.
